I made this Ninja Turtles costume myself with craft store foam and lycra. The head was made of papier-mache and covered with foam and lycra. The highly specialized foam latex Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costume had been in a box for many years, as the client was unsure what the best approach to preserving it would be. And got right to work thinking about how to make a homemade ninja turtle costume. I just cut out the tan square with my paper cutter. Place each layer onto your bag and iron it on using the multi use paper like you did for the shirt. Move the iron around and make sure it has been on all of the vinyl for roughly 30 seconds. If the vinyl starts to come up with it, put the sheet back down and iron that spot again. I was hoping to make this costume without the need to open it, to get into it. For the masks and belts, I just cut the fabric in half lengthwise to make 2 strips of each color.

I can’t wait until I can show you our entire family dressed up as the ninja’s in a half shell this year! I also love the fact that the shell is part of the shirt. The hardest part was figuring out how to attach the shell because they were too heavy to just attach with the stretchy fleece fabric. I used their pj tops to help me decide how large I could make the shell. Make this shape about a half inch smaller all the way around than the tan piece so that the layering can be seen. Just follow along with the instructions below to create your very own little half shell hero!

I found a 2nd smaller roasting pan for my little Michelangelo to use. 4 inches of ribbon and glued it near the top-inside of the roasting pan with hot glue. Glue it to the front of the belt buckle. Arena costume includes a full-length sleeveless tunic in oatmeal colored burlap, lined in off-white cloth, with thick brown distressed leather belt by Cornejo of Madrid.
